The Finnish Association for the Club of Rome, FICOR

The Finnish Association for the Club of Rome, FICOR, is a National Association of Finland for the Club of Rome.

The Club of Rome is a global think tank and centre of innovation and initiative.

As a non-profit, non-governmental organization (NGO), it brings together scientists, economists, businessmen, international high civil servants, heads of state and former heads of state from all five continents who are convinced that the future of humankind is not determined once and for all and that each human being can contribute to the improvement of our societies.

The Club of Rome members pool their different experiences from a wide range of backgrounds to come to a deeper understanding of the world problematique. It is composed of active members, associate members, honorary members and institutional members.

The Finnish members:

  • Professor Markku Wilenius (since 2002)
  • Mr. Tapio Kanninen (since 2004)
  • Professor Sirkka Heinonen (since 2005)
  • Professor Pekka Himanen (since 2012)
  • President Tarja Halonen (since 2014)
  • Mr. Tapio Ojanen (ex officio member since 2014)

Long-time member of the Club, professor Pentti Malaska, deceased 2012. He was a member since 1972 and an honorary member since 2004.

President Mauno Koivisto, deceased 2017, was an honorary member since 1984.

Ambassador Benjamin Bassin, deceased 2018, was a member since 1994.

Professor Esko Kalimo was a member from 1999 to 2018.

 

The Finnish Association for the Club of Rome, FICOR is a National chapter of Finland for the Club of Rome.  It has been operating since early 1970´s.
